Role Description
This full-time Trainee/Assistant Quantity Surveyor (dependent on experience) role is an office-based position based in Nottingham, with regular travel to sites. The role involves supporting cost planning and management activities across residential development projects, including assisting with the preparation and review of subcontract accounts, procurement, measuring work, and updating cost records.

The Trainee/Assistant Quantity Surveyor will help monitor project budgets, contribute to cost reporting, and assist with the evaluation of subcontractor quotations and payment applications. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with project managers and site teams, collecting and analyzing cost data, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring that financial controls and procedures are followed throughout the project lifecycle.

The role offers training and mentoring to develop professional quantity surveying skills within a supportive team environment.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in cost-related skills, including Cost Control and Cost Management.
- Experience or education related to project financials, including Cost Reporting and budget monitoring.
- Relevant academic background in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (or currently studying toward such a qualification).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic spreadsheet tools; familiarity with construction or QS software is an advantage.
- Good analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Understanding of, or interest in, residential construction processes and standard forms of contract; prior industry placement or internship is beneficial but not essential.
