South Hampshire College Group is seeking an enthusiastic and industry-experienced Trainer in Plumbing and Gas to join our Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning team at Eastleigh College.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Plumbing and Gas professional who is passionate about developing future talent. You will support apprentices and other learners throughout their journey, delivering high-quality training, assessment, and coaching both in the classroom and the workplace.

Working closely with employers, learners, and curriculum teams, you will play a vital role in helping individuals develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to succeed in the industry.

Duties:

As a Trainer, you will:

  • Deliver engaging theory and practical training in Plumbing and Gas across college sites, workplaces, and through blended learning.
  • Manage the overall delivery of apprenticeship and part-time programmes.
  • Conduct workplace assessments, observations, reviews, and progress monitoring activities.
  • Support learners from initial enquiry and enrolment through to successful completion and End Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Coach and mentor learners to develop both vocational competence and professional behaviours.
  • Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records using OneFile and other tracking systems.
  • Deliver learner inductions and support the development of learning resources and programmes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers and industry partners.
  • Provide timely feedback and implement support strategies where learner progress or engagement causes concern.
  • Monitor Functional Skills progress and Additional Learning Support requirements.
  • Support recruitment activities including interviews, open events, and apprenticeship promotion activities.
  • Prepare learners for End Point Assessment and final assessments.
  • Ensure all delivery and assessment activities meet awarding body, funding, and Ofsted requirements.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and contribute to continuous improvement across the provision.

Experience

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has substantial industry experience within Plumbing and Gas.
  • Holds relevant vocational qualifications in Plumbing and Gas.
  • Has experience of training, assessing, coaching, or mentoring learners or apprentices.
  • Possesses excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Can motivate and inspire learners to achieve their full potential.
  • Has experience working with employers and building effective professional relationships.
  • Holds an Assessor qualification (or is willing to work towards one).
  • Holds an IQA qualification (desirable).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
