Are you an experienced Quay Crane Operator ready to share your expertise and develop the next generation of port professionals? Join DP World and play a key role in delivering world-class operational training while helping us drive safety, performance, and operational excellence across London Gateway.
About the Role
As a Trainer (Quay Crane), you will be responsible for delivering and coordinating Quay Crane training programmes, assessing trainee competence, and supporting the ongoing development of operational personnel. Working closely with Operations, Engineering and the wider Training team, you will ensure employees are trained to the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational efficiency.
How You Will Contribute
- Deliver training and assessments to employees on the safe and efficient operation of terminal equipment.
- Train and assess personnel on vessel-related activities and operational procedures.
- Ensure training activities are completed in line with agreed training plans and timelines.
- Maintain accurate training records, assessment documentation and logbooks.
- Deliver classroom-based training sessions and prepare supporting learning materials.
- Conduct simulator-based training as a subject matter expert and super user of training systems.
- Assess and re-assess Quay Crane drivers to ensure operational standards are maintained.
- Support testing and commissioning activities for new equipment entering service.
- Promote a positive learning culture and encourage continuous improvement across operations.
- Champion safety, compliance and adherence to company policies, procedures and fatal risk standards.
What You Will Bring
- Proven experience operating Quay Cranes within a container terminal or port environment.
- Ability to train, coach and assess operational employees using a variety of learning methods.
- Strong understanding of terminal equipment, lifting operations and emergency procedures.
- Experience delivering classroom-based and practical operational training.
- Excellent record-keeping and administrative skills.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and manage challenging performance conversations when required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and deliver engaging training sessions for Quay Crane operations, covering safety protocols, equipment functionality, and operational best practices.
- Coordinate training schedules and ensure timely completion of training programs for new and existing employees.
- Assess trainees' performance and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their development and improvement.
- Maintain accurate training records, including attendance, assessment results, and progress reports.
- Collaborate with the Training team and operational managers to identify training needs and develop tailored training solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, equipment advancements, and safety regulations to incorporate into training programs.
- Support trainees during their learning journey, providing guidance and assistance as needed.
- Conduct regular equipment familiarization sessions to ensure employees are comfortable and confident with Quay Crane operations.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quay Crane operations or a related field.
- Proven track record in delivering effective training programs and facilitating adult learning.
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols and operational standards for Quay Crane operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate trainees.
- Proficiency in using training software and tools for course development and delivery.
- Analytical skills to assess training needs and identify areas for improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and build positive relationships.
- Flexibility to adapt training methods and content based on trainee needs and feedback.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel to different sites as required.
