A leading UK investment manager is looking for a Training & Competence Manager to join its London office on a hybrid basis, supporting the advisers within its private wealth business.

This is a hands-on T&C role rather than a policy one. You will take responsibility for the practical delivery and ongoing management of the Training & Competence framework, ensuring advisers and colleagues in regulated and client-facing roles can evidence the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to perform their roles effectively.

THE ROLE

  • Support the day-to-day delivery of the Training & Competence framework, ensuring activity is practical, timely and aligned to business needs
  • Apply regulatory and internal T&C requirements in practice, helping the business evidence that advisers and Certified Persons remain competent
  • Design, deliver and manage practical training for advisers, managers and colleagues in regulated or client-facing roles
  • Work closely with the private wealth business, Compliance, People and external training providers to develop training content that addresses real adviser development needs
  • Carry out regular competence assessments including role plays, observations of client meetings, product testing and knowledge assessments
  • Undertake live and recorded client meeting observations, supervise knowledge testing, review CPD logs and check supporting T&C evidence
  • Assess the initial and ongoing competence of new and existing advisers, documenting outcomes to support FCA Certification sign-off
  • Provide clear verbal and written feedback to advisers and managers, with actions recorded and followed up in individual T&C files and scorecards
  • Develop and support Adviser Improvement Plans where low suitability scores, knowledge gaps or other competence concerns are identified
  • Maintain accurate T&C records and use data and MI to identify themes, gaps, trends and overdue actions across the adviser population
  • Produce practical reporting for managers and leadership on competence themes, emerging risks and areas requiring intervention
  • Support the annual SMCR certification process, collating competence evidence and helping managers evidence that Certified Persons remain fit and proper

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
