Job Introduction
Landmarc Support Services is recruiting a Training Area Operative to join our dedicated team supporting the UK Defence Training Estate. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a safe, efficient and sustainable environment for our Armed Forces to train.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a positive “can‑do” attitude, and is keen to develop new skills. Full training is provided, and Landmarc offers strong career progression and great benefits.
Role Details
- Salary: £27,877.57
- Annual Allowance: £1,127.50 for working weekends
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Shifts run between: Mon- Sun, 07:30 – 23:59
- Contract: Permanent

Landmarc provides the essential support services that enable Armed Forces to train for frontline operations across the UK Defence Training Estate. We maintain safe, sustainable infrastructure, operate training areas and ranges, and deliver major projects that enhance vital military training assets. What You’ll Do
- Maintenance and preparation of firing ranges for safe military training
- Carrying out preventative, planned and reactive maintenance tasks
- Construction, repair and deployment of targets
- Grounds maintenance including fencing, mowing and strimming
- Supporting forestry tasks such as removal of fallen trees (training provided)
- Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment (training provided)
- Driving and operating fleet vehicles
- Using warning systems including training control offices, flags and lights
- Ensuring facilities adhere to strict safety protocols and safe systems of work
- Completing documentation using IT systems and paper‑based records

Essential
What We’re Looking For
- Knowledge of landscape or grounds maintenance
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic IT skills with confidence using a tablet
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse, fast‑paced team environment
- Good understanding of Health & Safety protocols and safe systems of work
- Previous experience in construction, grounds maintenance or similar (desirable)
- Must hold a full valid UK manual driving licence

Security
BPSS security clearance is mandatory for all roles; some posts additionally require SC clearance.
Interviews
Interview correspondence is sent by email, please check your junk folder. Interviews will be held via an assessment centre on 15th October. If successful to this stage, you will be asked to attend from 09:00 - 15:00 (you will be with us all day).
