We are looking for someone enthusiastic about working in an outdoor environment, dedicated to supporting the Military. Landmarc provides full training and continuous development opportunities, making this a fantastic opportunity to start a career on the Defence Training Estate.
Join our dedicated team as a Training Area Operative and play a key part in helping to maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train.
Role Details
- Salary: £13.97 per hour
- Location: Wathgill Camp, Wathgill, Richmond, North Yorkshire, DL11 6AH
- Shifts: Can vary from 07:00 - 23:59
- Workload: Varies based on firing schedules. No firing = No working requirement. Some weeks are busy; others may have no shifts.
- Contract: Variable Hours (Minimum 8 hours per month guaranteed)
- Rota’s: Will be provided monthly to ensure availability.

What You’ll Do
- Raise and lower safety flags; open/close barriers
- Hand Over / Take Back of Ranges and Dry Training Facilities
- Manufacturing targets
- Preparing Training Areas for use.
- Preventative Maintenance.
- Reactive and Grounds Maintenance.
- Operation and Maintenance of Plant and Equipment.
- Fencing and Dry Stone Walling.
- Driving and operating fleet vehicles
- Maintain safety and condition of the Defence Training Estate
- Complete basic admin using tablets and paper-based systems
Essential
What We’re Looking For
- Basic maintenance skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Awareness of Health & Safety and COSHH protocols
- Flexible and reliable
- A good team player with a practical mindset
- Basic IT skills (tablet use)
- A full manual UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- Plant and Machinery Operator Qualifications.
- Rural & Arboreal Skills.
- Grounds Maintenance Skills.
- Health & Safety qualifications.
- Knowledge of Ranges & Training Areas
