About The Role

Training, Compliance & Safety Officer

Ower Hatchery, Hampshire

Salary: Up to £36,000 DOE + £2,204.28 annual Saturday allowance

Working Hours

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday: 06:00 - 15:30 (9 hours)
  • Tuesday: 06:00 - 15:30 (9 hours)
  • Wednesday: 06:00 - 10:00 (4 hours)
  • Friday: 06:00 - 15:30 (9 hours)
  • Saturday: 06:00 - 15:30 (9 hours)

The Opportunity

We are looking for a proactive and highly organised Training, Compliance & Safety Officer to join our Agriculture team at our Ower Hatchery in Hampshire.

In this varied role, you will be responsible for promoting a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards, and coordinating training activities across the site. You'll work closely with operational teams to maintain safe working practices, support audits and inspections, and help develop the skills and competencies of our workforce.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for health and safety, compliance, and employee development who enjoys making a positive impact in a fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, maintain, and update site risk assessments, safe systems of work, and operational procedures
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor compliance with health and safety standards
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring all required documentation is maintained
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions
  • Coordinate and monitor site training plans and competency assessments
  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and other training sessions
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, compliance, and record keeping
  • Produce compliance reports and track corrective actions
  • Collaborate with Health & Safety colleagues across the business to share best practice and drive continuous improvement

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll be passionate about creating a safe working environment and supporting the development of others.

Essential

  • IOSH qualification
  • Experience delivering training or coaching colleagues
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to influence and engage people at all levels
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety practices and compliance requirements

Desirable

  • NEBOSH qualification
  • Internal auditing experience
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and best practice
  • Experience within agriculture, food production, manufacturing, or a similar operational environment
