Role Overview

This role supports the Training Officer and Workforce Development Manager with training coordination and records across QAC. You'll help maintain training systems and processes that support learning throughout the charity. As part of your apprenticeship, you'll gain experience in Learning & Development projects and initiatives.

What You'll Do at Work

  • Support the administration, coordination and delivery of training and development activities across the organisation, including training bookings, attendance tracking, registers, and updating systems following training events and staff development days.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training, qualification, and certification records using internal systems and processes (e.g., Cintra and LMS platforms), including tracking training completion.
  • Support the management and maintenance of the Learning Management System (LMS), including setting up users and maintaining learner data.
  • Log and track learning and development requests, ensuring effective tracking and follow-up.
  • Support the identification of learning and development needs by gathering and maintaining relevant training information and data.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Human Resources, developing an understanding of how learning and development supports wider people and organisational objectives.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of learning agreements and training documentation.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external providers to coordinate training activities.
  • Assist with the delivery and evaluation of training and development activities, including facilitating elements of training sessions and gathering learner feedback where appropriate.
  • Assist with the preparation and set up of meeting rooms, training spaces, and associated equipment as required.
  • Develop an understanding of the full learning and development cycle and contribute to activities that support individual, team, and organisational performance.
  • Ensure all training administration is completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate a flexible, positive, and proactive approach to supporting departmental activities and service delivery.

QAC employees may be expected to undertake designated emergency response duties as part of their role. This includes:

  • Receiving appropriate training, instruction, and information to carry out emergency procedures safely and effectively.
  • Responding to emergency situations in line with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Supporting the organisation’s compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation.

What You'll Learn

Course Contents

Identification of training/learning needs:

  • Identify and analyse learning needs: establish team and individual capability and learning gaps, in line with organisational performance outcomes and to enable effective evaluation. This may include the needs of the staff impacted by the move to a net carbon zero economy by 2050 and the requirements for a just transition.
  • Use sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes i.e. establishing that it really is a learning/training need, before developing L&D solutions.
  • Consult with stakeholders to draw out relevant information and provide feedback to inform learning and training needs requirements.
  • Use effective analytical skills to seek out and analyse information.
  • Take ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.

Training/Learning design:

  • Design, construct, and structure training/learning resources to meet a variety of needs, which will include:
  • Research of delivery options and resources including digital/online/blended solutions (including identifying existing resources)
  • Planning programmes/sessions/modules
  • Selecting appropriate delivery methods
  • Designing creative, engaging, appropriate, and inclusive learning activities (could be e-learning, digital collaboration, group sessions, blended etc.)
  • Developing materials and resources to support learning.

Training/Learning delivery:

  • Confidently engage all learners in structured learner-centered training, primarily of ‘content-driven’ training resources.
  • Plan, organise, and prepare for a training/learning event/intervention in a timely fashion.
  • Interact with learners of varying abilities, using a broad range of techniques and carefully planned and executed questioning techniques.
  • Facilitate and deliver learning in a face-to-face, blended, and digital environment as appropriate.
  • Monitor a learner’s progress and deliver motivational and developmental feedback.
  • Manage participation, attitudes, and behaviours to reach learning objectives.
  • Use effective coaching skills to enable learners to achieve learning objectives.

Evaluation:

  • Evaluate the impact of learning solutions - measure and assess development initiatives for effectiveness, business relevance, efficiency, and continually seek ways to improve learning solutions.
  • Build evaluation mechanisms for learning outcomes including the use of quantitative and qualitative feedback where appropriate.
  • Apply techniques to analyse the impact of training from learners’ experience.

Communication and Interpersonal:

  • Communicate and influence through a range of media e.g. phone, face-to-face, email, online/virtual, adapting their style to their audience.
  • Build trust and sound relationships with customers/learners/colleagues.
  • Handle conflict and sensitive situations professionally and confidentially.

Training Schedule

Training will take place in the form of monthly masterclasses online via Microsoft Teams with GLP Training.

More Training Information

The duration of the course will be 15 months on programme with GLP Training, followed by a 3-month assessment period.

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • English (grade Level 2)
    • Maths (grade Level 2)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
