We’re seeking skilled, confident trainers or facilitators to deliver our online Breaking the Fear workshops for survivors of domestic abuse. You’ll help reduce the fear of Family Court and support survivors to gain understanding, confidence, and practical coping tools.
What difference will you make?
As a Volunteer Training Facilitator, you will play a key role in improving the well-being, resilience, confidence, and knowledge of survivors facing Family Court, often as a result of post-separation abuse.
The Breaking the Fear workshops are empowering and transformative. Survivors consistently tell us they discover inner strength they didn’t know they had and feel better prepared to navigate what can be months or even years of legal proceedings.
By volunteering as a facilitator, you will help FLAG DV deliver this vital support to survivors across the Thames Valley and Hampshire, directly contributing to their safety, understanding, and empowerment.
What are we looking for?
Essential
You’ll have an understanding of domestic abuse and its impacts, including post-separation abuse, and be able to explain complex or sensitive information clearly, calmly, and inclusively.
You’ll be an excellent listener, responding with empathy and without judgment, and take a trauma-informed, survivor-centred approach to group work. You’ll feel confident facilitating emotive or challenging discussions, including responding appropriately to disclosures, while maintaining clear professional boundaries.

You’ll have strong experience in facilitating or training groups and managing group dynamics, ensuring participation is inclusive, non-pressured, and respectful of different needs. This may include online and/or in-person facilitation.
You’ll bring a calm, reliable, and reassuring presence to emotionally demanding situations, with strong emotional awareness and sensitivity to participants’ needs. A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice is essential.
You’ll be willing to engage in supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing development, and your values will align with FLAG DV’s commitment to confidentiality, survivor safety, and ethical practice.
Desirable
It would be helpful if you also have
- Knowledge of the Family Court system and survivor rights (training provided)
- Experience delivering online workshops or structured group programmes
- Experience supporting survivors in a voluntary, professional, or peer capacity
- Training or qualifications in facilitation, training, or group leadership, as evidence of relevant delivery experience
Lived experience of domestic abuse may be a valuable asset, but is not essential. Disclosure is entirely optional and will never be requested. Any shared lived experience will be respected and supported within a safe, confidential framework.

What will you be doing?
We are looking for skilled, confident, and trauma-informed trainers or facilitators to help deliver a unique series of online workshops for survivors of domestic abuse navigating the Family Court. These workshops are not delivered anywhere else and are vital in helping survivors understand what to expect, learn about family law, and develop coping strategies for a process that can be stressful, intimidating, and isolating.
FLAG DV is a specialist domestic abuse charity supporting survivors to make informed, safe choices through free, confidential family law advice, court support, and training across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Hampshire. Our survivor-led, trauma-informed approach helps reduce fear, increase understanding, and support survivors to feel safer, more confident, and better equipped to access justice.
As a Volunteer Training Facilitator, you will help us reach more survivors by delivering a four-session workshop to small groups (up to eight participants). You will guide survivors through the Family Court process, providing practical information, emotional support, and tools to prepare for and manage court proceedings. Your role will directly empower participants to face this challenging experience with greater confidence, understanding, and resilience.
