Training Lead
STS Aviation Services is hiring a Training Lead in Manchester, United Kingdom to support training, compliance, and workforce development across our UK Part 145 aircraft maintenance operations. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced aviation training professional to lead the delivery of technical, regulatory, and safety training while helping shape the future of our expanding training function.
Working closely with the STS Training Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting regulatory compliance, developing training strategies, mentoring future aviation professionals, and preparing the business for continued growth, including Part 147 development and apprenticeship programmes.
Position Overview
The Training Lead is responsible for leading and delivering training activities across STS Aviation Services UK in support of UK CAA Part 145 operations. This role ensures personnel competency, regulatory compliance, effective onboarding, continuation training, and operational readiness while supporting a long-term training strategy aligned with business growth, safety, and operational excellence.
The position supports operations across Manchester, Newquay, and UK line maintenance stations and requires occasional travel between STS facilities.
Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Support the implementation of the training system across Manchester, Newquay, line stations, and future UK facilities
- Assist the Training Manager with strategic development toward Part 147 and apprenticeship approvals
- Maintain compliance with UK CAA Part 145.A.30 and Part 145.A.35 requirements
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready training records within Centrik
Onboarding and Continuation Training
- Deliver onboarding programmes for new employees
- Deliver mandatory regulatory and operational training before personnel begin assigned duties
- Coordinate onboarding activities with HR, Recruitment, and Operations teams
- Develop and deliver structured continuation training programmes

Safety and SMS Training
- Design and deliver targeted training requested by senior leadership, Safety Management System (SMS), and Compliance teams
- Deliver Human Factors and Just Culture training alongside SMS and Health & Safety teams
- Develop and deliver reactive training following audits, incidents, or operational findings
Training Governance
- Maintain training records and documentation
- Support Compliance-led audits by providing training evidence and effectiveness data
- Conduct internal reviews to evaluate training effectiveness
- Identify risks, training gaps, and improvement opportunities for the Training Manager
Systems and Digital Learning
- Maintain the annual training plan
- Administer computer-based training systems and learning management platforms
External Training Coordination
- Assist with sourcing, scheduling, and monitoring external training providers
- Support regulatory compliance while ensuring cost-effective training delivery
Planning and Resource Management
- Develop training plans aligned with operational demand and seasonal workloads
- Provide forecasting and resource planning information to senior leadership
Strategic Development
- Support development of the company’s Part 147 approval roadmap
- Assist with establishing aviation apprenticeship programmes
- Help develop in-house Boeing 777 Part 147 type training capability and restructure on-the-job training programmes
Engagement and Leadership
- Build strong relationships across departments
- Lead training meetings when acting on behalf of the Training Manager
- Conduct site visits to deliver training across STS facilities
- Travel throughout the United Kingdom as business needs require
Training Delivery
- Deliver induction, Human Factors, SMS, supervisory, and safety training
- Support practical training programmes, including MEWP instruction and Train-the-Trainer initiatives
- Support civil aviation, line maintenance, base maintenance, and passenger-to-freighter (P2F) operations

Qualifications
- Relevant Level 3 qualification or higher in aircraft maintenance or a related technical discipline
- Professional adult education qualification such as PTTLS, CTTLS, DTTLS, Cert Ed, AET, CET, DET, QTLS, or equivalent
- Experience delivering training within a regulated engineering or aviation environment
- Strong knowledge of Human Factors and experience delivering facilitated training sessions
- Human Factors qualification is advantageous
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership abilities
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Ability to design, develop, and deliver engaging technical training programmes
- Passion for developing future aircraft engineers and technicians
- Professional, supportive, and committed to maintaining high industry standards
- Willingness to travel across UK sites as required
