Overview
On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) joined to form Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation focuses on supporting the renewal and ensuring the long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.

Flexible Location: PSD Scotland is a remote friendly employer supporting office, remote, and hybrid working (within the UK).
Who We Are
Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education, and training across the health and social care system in Scotland. We work at the UK level with partner organisations and are the leader in educational design, delivery, and quality assurance. We provide wide-ranging support to workforce development and are the official provider of workforce statistics for NHS Scotland. We design and develop digital technologies supporting innovation and transformation.
Our purpose is to drive change and improve the quality of care experienced by citizens across Scotland by ensuring that we have the right staff, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time. PSD Scotland is integral to improving outcomes for people and ensuring a skilled and capable workforce underpins the design and delivery of services.

What You Will Do
The Training Programme Director post provides leadership and oversight of the post with responsibilities for national training programmes of the Scotland Deanery. The role involves interaction with trainees, trainers, and external bodies to support and enhance postgraduate education both regionally and nationally across the Scotland Deanery.
Qualifications
- Trained doctors in Scotland in a substantive NHS consultant post.
- Must confirm prior to interview that their employer would support a Service Level Agreement for this role within their job plan.
- Qualified to MB ChB or equivalent.
- Included in the GMC’s General and Specialist Registers.
- Broad understanding of the GMC and Scotland Deanery quality frameworks.
- Practical experience of medical education and training in the NHS.
