Area of Interest: Transaction Banking
Business Area: Corporate and Institutional Banking
Short Description: Help protect client assets with trusted solutions in a global financial network.
About the business area
Corporate and Institutional Banking helps some of the world’s largest companies grow and succeed by offering investment and financial solutions.
Securities Services provides robust and reliable solutions that help clients mitigate risk and enhance their performance. Working with institutional investors, banks, insurance companies, governments, and multinational corporations, the team covers fund administration, global custody, sub-custody and clearing, and corporate trust and loan agency services.
Who you are
You’re curious, collaborative and ready to learn how global markets work behind the scenes. You enjoy solving problems, building relationships and turning complex information into something clear and useful. You don’t need to know everything about post-trade services yet — if you bring the right mindset, we’ll help you build the banking context. You’ll likely thrive here if you enjoy working with different people, communicating clearly, spotting ways to improve processes and using data to support better decisions. You take ownership, ask smart questions and want to understand how systems, products and client needs connect. If you’re excited by innovation, interested in how investment services run safely and smoothly, and want to grow in a global team, this could be a strong fit.
What you'll do
Over two years, you’ll complete four rotations across Securities Services, giving you a broad view of how we support institutional clients through post-trade and investment servicing. Depending on your rotation, you could help teams delivering custody, fund and depository services, alternatives, trustee/fiduciary, agency lending and liquidity, or business management and change. You’ll analyse service performance and operational data, help investigate issues and exceptions, and support process, control and client service improvements. You’ll also contribute to initiatives that strengthen efficiency and resilience—such as documenting workflows, improving data quality, supporting digital tooling, or coordinating delivery tasks with stakeholders across product, operations, risk and client coverage. Each rotation builds your understanding of the end-to-end service model and lets you take on progressively more ownership as you develop.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
