Are you a proactive and curious financial crime professional ready to take on a pivotal role in a fast-paced, regulated environment?
We are seeking a Transaction Monitoring Associate to join our Compliance team, with a strong focus on Transaction Monitoring (TM), financial crime investigations and associated compliance activities. You'll be at the forefront of our financial crime prevention efforts, using your analytical and investigative skills to identify unusual or suspicious activity, investigate alerts and support effective risk management across our card and payment programmes.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at an early stage of their compliance career who is looking to build hands-on experience in Transaction Monitoring and develop broader exposure across financial crime and compliance.
What you will be doing
As a Transaction Monitoring Associate, your role will primarily involve transaction monitoring, investigations and wider financial crime compliance activities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Transaction Monitoring & investigations
- Conducting real-time and post-event transaction monitoring to identify, review and investigate unusual or suspicious activity.
- Investigating transaction monitoring alerts, analysing customer activity and transaction patterns, and documenting investigation outcomes.
- Escalating potentially suspicious activity and higher-risk cases to the Head of Compliance & MLRO where appropriate.
- Supporting the ongoing development and refinement of transaction monitoring rules, thresholds and procedures as new risks and typologies emerge.
- Identifying trends, recurring patterns and emerging financial crime risks across customers and programmes.
- Generating insightful transaction monitoring and compliance MI to support risk-based and data-driven decisions.

KYC, Due Diligence & Financial Crime reviews
- Performing and supporting Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) reviews, including PEP and Sanctions screening.
- Carrying out Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) on higher-risk customers, businesses and complex cases.
- Supporting Ongoing Due Diligence (ODD), periodic reviews and other risk-based customer or business reviews.
- Reviewing customer information and due diligence records where required as part of transaction monitoring investigations or wider financial crime assessments.
General Compliance support
- Assisting the Head of Compliance & MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer) with day-to-day financial crime and compliance activities.
- Assessing business and customer activities for financial crime and compliance risks and contributing to appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Staying up to date with regulatory developments and evolving financial crime typologies.
- Supporting the preparation of compliance reports and management information for internal stakeholders and, where required, regulators.
- Supporting other compliance and financial crime activities as reasonably required by the business.

Who you are
You are a detail-oriented team player with a strong interest in transaction monitoring, investigations and financial crime prevention.
Experience
- Ideally, you have experience in transaction monitoring, AML, compliance, banking, payments, fintech or cards.
Knowledge
- You are familiar with AML regulations, transaction monitoring concepts and common financial crime typologies. Knowledge of the FCA regulatory environment would be beneficial.
Skills
- You possess strong analytical and investigative skills with a keen eye for detail. You are proficient in Excel and comfortable working with compliance systems, transaction data and reporting tools. You know how to handle sensitive information with complete discretion.

- You are curious, proactive and a quick learner. You have strong written and verbal communication skills and are a solution-oriented team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
