Transactional Finance Supervisor

Swansea | Hybrid Working - 3 days WFH per week £37,000 - £39,000

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team in a role combining management accounting, team leadership and process improvement. Reporting to the Finance Director, you'll support the Finance Manager and take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of a team of 4 Finance Assistants, whilst playing a key role in month-end reporting and financial controls.

What you'll be doing

  • Supervising, mentoring and supporting a team of 4 Finance Assistants
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Producing accurate monthly financial reports
  • Completing month-end activities, including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Overseeing transactional finance activities to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Reviewing purchase ledger, sales ledger and cashbook activities
  • Providing guidance and resolving finance queries
  • Preparing VAT returns and other statutory submissions
  • Producing ad hoc analysis and reporting using Microsoft Excel
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
  • Building strong relationships with colleagues across the organisation
  • Providing financial support and guidance where required

What we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced finance professional who enjoys both the technical and people-focused aspects of finance and is ready to take the next step in their career.

You'll ideally have:

  • AAT Level 4 qualification or be part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent
  • Previous experience producing management accounts
  • Strong understanding of month-end processes
  • Experience with accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Previous experience supervising, mentoring or managing finance staff
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and financial reporting
  • Experience preparing VAT returns
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and use initiative
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
