Transactional Finance Supervisor
Swansea | Hybrid Working - 3 days WFH per week £37,000 - £39,000
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team in a role combining management accounting, team leadership and process improvement. Reporting to the Finance Director, you'll support the Finance Manager and take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of a team of 4 Finance Assistants, whilst playing a key role in month-end reporting and financial controls.
What you'll be doing
- Supervising, mentoring and supporting a team of 4 Finance Assistants
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Producing accurate monthly financial reports
- Completing month-end activities, including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Overseeing transactional finance activities to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Reviewing purchase ledger, sales ledger and cashbook activities
- Providing guidance and resolving finance queries
- Preparing VAT returns and other statutory submissions
- Producing ad hoc analysis and reporting using Microsoft Excel
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
- Building strong relationships with colleagues across the organisation
- Providing financial support and guidance where required

What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced finance professional who enjoys both the technical and people-focused aspects of finance and is ready to take the next step in their career.
You'll ideally have:
- AAT Level 4 qualification or be part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent
- Previous experience producing management accounts
- Strong understanding of month-end processes
- Experience with accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring or managing finance staff
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and financial reporting
- Experience preparing VAT returns
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and use initiative
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
