About the Position

We are looking for an ambitious technical and commercial leader to join the Water Services team to drive the growth and delivery of our expanding transactional flood risk service, working closely with our internal Transactional Support team. The role focuses on leading and technically overseeing transactional Flood Risk Assessments and providing sound commercial advice to clients across the UK and Europe.

THIS ROLE REPORTS DIRECTLY TO THE CLIENT SERVICE DIRECTOR AND IS A HYBRID ROLE, BASED AT HOME BUT WITH REGULAR ATTENDANCE AT ONE OF OUR PRIMARY UK HUBS PREFERRED (LEEDS, MANCHESTER, LONDON AND NOTTINGHAM CURRENTLY). AS WE ENTER AN EXCITING BUILD-OUT AND SCALING PHASE, THIS POSITION OFFERS CANDIDATES THE CHANCE TO MAKE A VISIBLE STAMP ON OUR SERVICE LINE BY TAKING CHARGE OF A FAST GROWING TRANSACTIONAL FLOOD TEAM.

Key Activities

  • Lead & technically oversee the production and delivery of transactional Flood Risk Assessments for real estate assets.
  • Provide commercially focussed Transactional Flood advice to Real Estate clients in the UK and Europe.
  • Oversee the drafting and issue of proposals for Transactional Flood work for Real Estate clients.
  • Lead the growth of the Transactional Flood team and support and develop staff within the team.
  • Manage and develop client relationships to set and meet predicted budget revenues.
  • Build strong relationships with the Transactions Support Practice to ensure the successful delivery of transactional flood projects and timely issue of flood proposals.
  • Actively engage with Transactional Flood clients in the Real Estate sector and take the lead of developing new business in conjunction with the Transactions Support practice.
  • Attend at key events from a technical and business development perspective.
  • Keep up to date with developments in legislation and guidance that impact flood risk advice and implement best practice and key developments into the operations of the team.
  • Mentor staff across the Flood team to support their professional development and foster an inclusive, collaborative culture.
  • Maintain a good awareness of Real Estate markets and other wider financial, economic and geopolitical events that may impact Transactional markets.
  • Drive business development through proposals, networking, and thought leadership, working with the Client Services Director.

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in within the Environmental or Real Estate consultancy industry, with strong leadership and technical skills.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or a related water discipline.
  • Professional chartered member of CIWEM or ICE – desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work under pressure in line with stringent client timescales and internal project deadlines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of accessing, utilising and interpreting European Flood Risk mapping data.
  • Strong project leadership, financial management and client engagement skills.

Desirable

  • Proficiency in GIS for spatial analysis.
