Department Summary

WPP Production Languages Department consists of various teams who collaborate to support our clients with a wide range of diverse language service offerings including Translation, Transcreation, Multilingual SEO, Cultural Insight, and many more. We implement tried-and-tested language workflow partnered with carefully-selected linguist teams and supported by language technology to ensure our clients’ messaging resonates in a consistent way across international markets and cultures whilst also remaining faithful to each client brand.

What does a Transcreation Team Lead do at WPP Production?

The Transcreation Team Lead will play a vital role in the wider Languages department to ensure a 360 overview of language services, capabilities, and teams. They will collaborate closely with clients to develop strong relationships, and efficiently take responsibility for the quality of Language services delivered to the client whilst being proactive in addressing any issues raised to optimise client and stakeholder relations.

The TTL will be responsible for their team of STAMs and TAMs, supporting them in managing and coordinating workload vs resources, and acting as an escalation point where required.

The TTL will strive to proactively seek and identify new revenue opportunities in both existing clients, and prospects, and will support in developing proposals for new revenue opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and develop strong relationships with your clients and act as a Languages and Localisation SME to confidently guide clients through the language workflows and deliver against agreed SLAs and KPIs
  • Coordinate regular strategic reviews / presentations / reporting with the client to ensure objectives are being met, issues raised are resolved and that visibility of workload is clear for planning purposes
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the WPP Production business model, services and technology and proactively identify areas for improvement in the existing workflows and processes to maximise efficiencies and profitability
  • Contribute to cost estimate preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting on portfolio of accounts, and proactively seek and identify new revenue opportunities for business growth
  • Act as a trusted mentor and escalation point for your team of STAMs / TAMs and support in the management of workload and resources to ensure productivity levels are maintained and team morale is good
  • Ensure the team are efficiently adhering to established language workflows and processes to make sure all deliverables meet the quality and consistency expectations of the client
  • Coach and develop your team to ensure achievement of their Personal Development Plan including supporting with performance management and identifying training needs
  • Ensure strong utilisation of team and identify cross-training and cross-utilisation by other teams where possible
  • Support with recruitment and interviews where required
  • Close collaboration and effective communication with other teams within the WPP Production network including Talent Management, Quality Management, Client Services and Production Teams

Reporting lines and key stakeholders

Director of Language Services, EMEA. and will line manage 2 x STAMs.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge and experience of different Languages services (Translation, Transcreation, Machine translation, Cultural Insight)
  • Strong client management skills and excellent networker
  • Demonstrable financial skills (P & L, estimating, budgeting, forecasting)
  • TMS experience and CAT Tools proficiency
  • Proven end-to-end Language Project Management skills from Briefing through to Delivery
  • Exceptional communication skills with both internal colleagues and external clients
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills, and an ability to thrive under pressure
  • Ability to both follow established processes but also think outside the box and challenge the status quo
  • Experience in team management – both locally and virtually
