Transcription Typist – Freelance, Remote (Worldwide)
Transcription City is a transcription and documentation company working with government bodies, legal teams, international organisations, and corporate clients. We are adding experienced transcription typists to our freelance panel. You can be based anywhere.
The Work
- You transcribe audio and video recordings to our house style and return them by an agreed deadline.
- Material ranges from one-to-one interviews and meetings to legal, medical, and investigative recordings, some with multiple speakers, strong accents, and variable audio quality.
- Work is offered job by job — take what suits you, decline what doesn't.
What We Need
- Demonstrable transcription experience (verbatim and intelligent verbatim)
- Accurate typing at 65+ wpm with excellent written English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
- Good research habits — names, job titles, technical, and legal terms checked, not guessed
- Reliable turnaround and clear communication when a deadline is at risk
- Your own computer, headphones, stable internet, and transcription software or foot pedal if you use one

How We Work
- Freelance, self-employed basis — you invoice us and are responsible for your own tax and social security wherever you live, and you stay free to work for other companies
- Fully remote, your own hours around agreed deadlines
- Paid per audio hour in GBP: [insert your rate or range], varying by turnaround and difficulty
- Before any test material is issued you'll sign a short confidentiality undertaking; successful applicants then sign a single Typist Agreement covering confidentiality, freelance status, IP, and non-solicitation
