Plant Operative Opportunity at Wednesbury Hazardous Waste Transfer Station
We are seeking an experienced Plant Operative to join our hardworking team at the Wednesbury Hazardous Waste Transfer Station. This role requires working 45 hours per week on rotating shifts:
- 07:00 to 16:00
- 09:00 to 18:00
Monday to Friday, with some flexibility on start and finish times. The role may include some weekends if required.
Responsibilities
Operatives will be involved in the acceptance, physical treatment, and dispatch of packed waste materials, typically hazardous products arising from household collections including, but not limited to:
- Paints
- Aerosols
- Oil
- Batteries
- Cleaning products

Operatives will have daily targets to meet, work safely in a busy waste transfer station processing environment, and adhere to strict health and safety policies and procedures. Operatives will be trained in all aspects of the process.
Requirements
- Waste industry experience would be advantageous
- Supervisory experience is a plus
- First aid, fire marshal training, and mobile and/or static plant maintenance knowledge are beneficial
Operatives Require:
- An in-date Counterbalance FLT licence
- Ability to perform manual handling duties when necessary, such as sweeping and cleaning of spilled material, sortation, weighing, and repacking of packaged goods, and general site housekeeping
