Our state-of-the-art Barking Transfer Station - the largest in the UK - plays a vital role in this mission, operating 24/7 to keep waste moving efficiently along the River Thames to Riverside 2, our brand new Energy from Waste facility in Belvedere.
About the Role
As a Transfer Station Supervisor, you’ll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely. You’ll lead a dedicated team, making sure that waste is processed correctly and that our site remains compliant with all environmental and safety regulations. Your work will directly impact the efficiency of our transfer operations and help us deliver on our sustainability goals.

Responsibilities
Day-to-day, you’ll:
- Oversee the receipt and processing of waste
- Manage operational staff
- Maintain strict health, safety, and environmental standards
- Ensure that maintenance activities are carried out effectively
- Keep accurate documentation
- Communicate clearly with internal teams and external partners
This is a hands-on role where your leadership and organisational skills will make a real difference.
Requirements
To thrive in this role, you’ll need to bring:
- Strong organisational skills
- Proven ability to lead a team in a busy operational environment
- Supervisory experience
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Working knowledge of current Environment Agency and Health & Safety Executive legislation
- Ability to interpret technical data accurately
