We have an exciting and unique opportunity for a Police Constable to join Learning and Development as a Police Driving Instructor on a permanent basis.

BTP police and protect 10,000 miles of track and 3,000 railway stations every day – a network that is at the heart of Britain’s community, commerce and industry. Join us and you’ll be providing specialist policing to a unique community in a unique environment, dealing with rewarding challenges that you won’t find in any other Force.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver driver training to operational police officers and police staff within the Force to comply with National Police Driving Standards in compliance with College of Policing APP, NPCC guidance and legislation
  • Ensure the individual courses attendees needs are fully met
  • Achieve relevant occupational and operational standards

Initial Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be:

  • A current or former officer from a Home Office Police Force, Police Scotland, or PSNI
  • Substantive in rank
  • Have completed probation (if transferee)
  • Apply within 12 months of leaving and have been substantive in rank (if re-joiner)
  • Have lived in the UK for the past 3 consecutive years
  • Free from live misconduct warnings or performance issues
  • Not under current investigation by another force
  • Free from active CCJs, unmanaged IVAs, or bankruptcy
  • Not dismissed from another force
  • Not declined vetting at another Force within 2 years

Role Specific Eligibility Criteria

Must hold:

  • A College of Policing Advanced Car Permit
  • A College of Policing Police Driving Instructor or Police Driver Trainer permit
  • A Level 4 CET, or TEP modules 1-3
  • A1 Assessor / CAVA or TEP module 5
  • Operational Competence and experience in I.P.P/HOSTYDS and/or TPAC

Desirable:

  • DVLA ADI and hold C1/D1 entitlements & DVSA ADI
