Are you an experienced police emergency call handler looking for your next challenge? We are seeking trained Police Emergency Call Handlers from other UK police forces to join our Contact Management team at Nottinghamshire Police. This is an opportunity to bring your existing skills and experience to a force committed to delivering outstanding service to communities across Nottinghamshire.
🚀 What you'll do
- Receive and assess emergency (999) and non-emergency (101) calls, ensuring appropriate prioritisation and response.
- Manage a wide variety of calls from members of the public, partner agencies, emergency services and internal colleagues.
- Create and maintain accurate incident records using command and control systems.
- Provide advice and information to callers, including crime prevention and evidence preservation guidance.
- Support the effective management of incidents through accurate information gathering and risk assessment.
- Process information from multiple communication channels, including telephone, live chat, online reporting and email.
- Access and update police systems to support operational policing and incident management.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a professional, efficient and customer-focused service.

💡 What We’re Looking For
- Current or recent experience as a Police Emergency Call Handler, Contact Handler or equivalent role within a UK police force.
- Experience working in a busy, fast-paced and pressurised control room or contact management environment.
- Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to assess risk effectively.
- Accurate keyboard and data input skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional and resilient when dealing with challenging or distressing incidents.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
