Your New Role
We’re looking for a Director of Business Systems & Transformation to lead a significant technology-enabled transformation programme for an established and growing software business in Reading. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a senior, delivery-focused role with around 80% of your time centred on transformation, technology strategy and major systems projects rather than traditional IT operations. You’ll lead a broad portfolio of change across CRM, ERP, business systems, integrations, automation, data and technology-enabled process improvement, taking projects from initial strategy and requirements through to implementation, adoption and successful transition into BAU. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, technical teams and external technology partners, providing the leadership and technical understanding needed to turn business priorities into meaningful, measurable outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ll be comfortable operating strategically with the CEO and senior leadership team while remaining close enough to delivery to challenge requirements, identify risks, manage suppliers and solve problems. Crucially, we’re looking for someone who has moved beyond traditional IT operations and can demonstrate genuine experience of leading transformation, coordinating multiple stakeholders and delivering technology projects that improve how a business operates.
