MarTech Transformation Lead

£500 per day | Outside IR35 | 3 months initially

Hybrid – Manchester two days per week

We’re looking for an experienced CRM and MarTech Transformation Lead to shape the future customer communications ecosystem for a major European business.

The current communications platform is approaching end of life, creating an immediate need to understand the existing landscape, define the future requirements and select the right replacement technology.

This is a hands-on transformation role combining discovery, business analysis, platform strategy and vendor selection. Following the selection phase, there may also be an opportunity to lead or support the implementation and migration.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assess the current customer communications and MarTech landscape.
  • Identify existing capabilities, dependencies, limitations and continuity risks.
  • Gather requirements across Marketing, Technology, Data, Product and Operations.
  • Map the as-is environment and define the future-state capabilities.
  • Determine how customer data, identity and consent should support communications.
  • Define requirements across marketing automation, transactional communications, journey orchestration, segmentation and personalisation.
  • Lead the RFI/RFP and vendor-evaluation process.
  • Coordinate demonstrations, technical assessments and proof-of-concepts.
  • Evaluate platforms against capability, architecture, integrations, data, security, scalability, cost and implementation complexity.
  • Produce a clear, evidence-based platform recommendation and implementation roadmap.
  • Identify opportunities to use automation and AI to improve personalisation, efficiency and speed to market.
  • Potentially support the subsequent implementation, migration, testing and launch.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This isn’t a campaign-management role or a traditional sales CRM implementation. We need someone who has helped an organisation decide what customer communications technology it needs, which platform it should select and how it should safely move away from its existing solution.
