Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Transit Delivery Driver role based in Clacton-On-Sea. The Transit Delivery Driver is responsible for safely loading, securing, and transporting building materials to customer sites and company locations. Day-to-day tasks include checking delivery notes, planning efficient routes, completing delivery and collection paperwork, and conducting basic vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness. The role also involves interacting with customers at delivery locations, providing courteous service, and handling materials in line with health and safety guidelines. The driver may assist in the yard or warehouse with picking orders and maintaining stock organization when not on the road.

  • Valid, clean driving license appropriate for a Transit vehicle and a strong record of safe driving.
  • Experience in delivery driving, logistics, or transport operations, ideally within building materials or a related sector.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle building materials safely, with good awareness of manual handling and health and safety practices.
  • Making sure deliveries are completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Clear, professional communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues, and accurate completion of delivery documentation.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently while contributing positively to a small team environment.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, yard, or construction supply environment is an advantage.
