Funding Opportunities

BlueActionBANOS offers targeted financial assistance, technical guidance, and strategic knowledge-sharing to support the scale-up and deployment of Mission Ocean and Waters solutions within the Baltic and North Sea Lighthouse Area.

Below you’ll find all the information needed to explore, apply for, and understand our funding instruments.

BlueActionBANOS offers two types of funding opportunities to support communities in ocean restoration efforts:

Community-Led Actions

Supporting projects that restore marine and coastal ecosystems and promote sustainable practices in the blue economy.

Action plans to guide regional transformation towards sustainability and innovation.

Community-Led Actions

  • Up to 24 months of programme support
  • Who Can Apply:
    • Teams or consortia of 2 to 12 entities registered in Baltic and North Sea basin (BANOS) countries.
  • Grants ranging from €200,000 to €2 million to carry out action-oriented projects that tackle pollution, restore marine ecosystems, or advance sustainable blue economy solutions.

Transition Agendas

  • Up to 18 months of programme support

  • Who Can Apply:

    • Individual entities or consortia of up to 3 entities registered in the Baltic and North Sea basin (BANOS) countries
  • Up to €100,000 each to design action plans guiding local sustainability, marine or freshwater ecosystem restoration, decarbonisation and climate adaptation pathways

Support for Applicants

Technical Assistance:

  • Help define the scope, methodology, and sustainability of actions.
  • Access to experts from project partners, including scientists, technical specialists, and Mission Ocean practitioners.

Application Process

The Application Process Consists Of 2 Steps:

  • Compulsory submission of the Project Idea Form and individual consultations
  • Submission of the full proposal

A total of 3 calls will be launched throughout the 4-year period of the BlueActionBANOS project:

  • 1 Community-Led Action call and
  • 2 Transition Agendas calls.
