Transmission Protection FAT Tester - 132kV+

Newcastle - Factory Based

£70/hr Outside IR35 - flexibility for the right candidate (Perm)

6-Month Contract | Immediate Start

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Transmission Protection FAT Tester to join a specialist team supporting major transmission projects. You'll be hands-on with protection panel FAT, scheme testing, fault finding, and snag clearance within a factory environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out protection panel FAT, functional/scheme testing, and secondary injection testing.
  • Perform Omicron testing, numerical relay testing, fault finding, and snag clearance.
  • Test and verify 132kV, 275kV, and 400kV transmission protection systems.
  • Configure and check protection relays across platforms such as Siemens SIPROTEC/DIGSI, ABB/Hitachi PCM600, GE Multilin/EnerVista, SEL, or Schneider MiCOM.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven hands-on experience with protection panel FAT and Omicron secondary injection testing.
  • Genuine transmission protection experience at 132kV+ is essential.
  • Experience with numerical relays and fault finding.
  • Suitable backgrounds include Protection & Control, Protection/Test, Relay Test, Commissioning, or Protection Technician roles.
  • Important: Industrial/distribution-only experience (e.g. 11kV/33kV) is not suitable. This role specifically requires transmission protection testing experience at 132kV+.
