Jewson Transport Allocator Role
Jewson, a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe, is on the hunt for a Transport Allocator to join our growing branch, in Launceston!
As a Transport Allocator, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service by maximising vehicle capacity, maintaining compliance with transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements, and supporting continuous improvement across transport operations.

Working Hours
- This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, 7:00-16:30 and every other Saturday, from 8:00-12:00

Key Responsibilities
- Allocate and plan customer deliveries to ensure delivery commitments and service levels are achieved.
- Maximise fleet utilisation and delivery capacity while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Work closely with branches to understand customer requirements and manage changing priorities.
- Proactively identify and resolve delivery issues before they impact customers.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, branch teams and transport colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Produce efficient daily delivery schedules and vehicle allocations.
- Plan branch transfers, stock movements and inter-branch deliveries in the most cost-effective manner.
- Assist with analysis of failed, delayed or compromised deliveries and identify corrective actions.
- Ensure transport operations are conducted in accordance with Operator Licence requirements and relevant legislation.
- Maintain accurate information across all transport systems, databases and reporting tools.
- Monitor and promote effective use of Delivery Management Systems and transport processes.
- Escalate compliance, vehicle or driver concerns appropriately.
- Support the business in maintaining high standards of safety, wellbeing and environmental performance.

What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in transport planning, logistics coordination or fleet scheduling, is desirable
- Understanding of transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements, is desirable
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and transport management systems.
