The Opportunity

Gist is embarking on an exciting period of transformation as we strengthen operational performance, modernise our transport network, and harness emerging technologies. To help us deliver this ambition, we’re looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Transport Change Manager to lead and embed transformational change across our central transport operations.

As the Transport Change Manager, you will be pivotal in shaping and delivering transport transformation initiatives that improve efficiency, compliance, cost, resilience and service, while ensuring change is adopted and embedded across our network.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who combines strategic thinking with strong operational transport expertise and knows how to turn ideas into measurable, sustainable results.

What You'll Be Doing

Reporting into the Senior Transport Change Manager, you will be responsible for driving change transformation, shaping the future of our transport network where you will be responsible for shaping the transport change plans through the development and delivery of transport transformation plans aligning to strategy, securing buy-in from senior leaders and ensuring transport is represented across wider Group programmes.

You will lead change and transformation, driving the adoption of new processes, systems and ways of working, turning improvement ideas into scalable initiatives and ensuring benefits are delivered and sustained. You will lead transport change projects from proposals through to implementation, managing time, scope, budget, risks and stakeholder communication across our network of operations.

You will collaborate and partner with senior stakeholders and teams across the business to deliver effective, joined up change and drive operational excellence, identifying best practice, improve consistency and resilience, standardise change delivery, and use data to measure and demonstrate results.

In addition, you will support the wider change delivery team and business with any additional requirements as and when needed.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who can see the bigger picture while understanding what it takes to make change work on the ground. To be successful in your application you will bring:

  • Proven experience of leading transformation or change initiatives within a transport environment.
  • Significant knowledge of transport operations, transport planning and outputs.
  • Strong project management skills and a track record of delivering complex change initiatives successfully.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders and inspire colleagues at all levels.
  • A strategic mindset, combined with the ability to translate vision into practical, actionable plans.
  • A strong understanding of operational improvement, continuous improvement and delivering measurable benefits.

It would be desirable, however not essential if you have a certification in change management, lean six sigma or project management.

This is more than a change management position; this is an opportunity to help shape the future of Gist’s transport operation.

You will have the influence to turn ideas into action, the visibility to work with senior stakeholders across the business, and the opportunity to deliver transformation that makes a tangible difference to our people, our customers and our network.

Role Details

  • Salary: Up to £68,000 per annum
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
  • Location: This role can be based anywhere in the UK, individuals must be comfortable with hybrid working and travel as and when needed. You will be responsible for three sites across Milton Keynes, Bradford and Daventry.
