Transport Compliance Manager

Description
We are looking for a highly capable Transport Compliance Manager to take the lead on transport compliance, fleet governance, and operational standards across our UK operation. This role is ideal for an experienced transport professional who thrives on building robust processes, driving accountability, and ensuring compliance is embedded in everything we do.
Working closely with the UK Transport Manager, you'll provide expert oversight of Operator Licence compliance, fleet maintenance controls, transport legislation, and health & safety performance. You'll play a vital role in safeguarding our operation, supporting operational teams, and ensuring the business remains fully compliant while delivering exceptional service.
As Transport Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of legal and operational compliance across the fleet. You'll provide leadership, guidance, and assurance to management teams while driving continuous improvement in transport performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence undertakings, transport legislation, and company policies.
- Maintaining oversight of vehicle inspections, maintenance programmes, fleet documentation, and audit readiness.
- Monitoring fleet utilisation and operational performance, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Supporting the transport team to deliver against operational targets, service levels, and compliance objectives.
- Leading investigations into incidents, accidents, and compliance breaches, implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Championing a strong health, safety, and compliance culture across the operation.
- Providing coaching and support to managers and supervisors, ensuring consistent standards and best practice.
- Producing compliance reports, analysing performance data, and providing recommendations.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Manager CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
- Comprehensive knowledge of Operator Licence compliance and UK & EU transport legislation.
- Experience managing compliance within a commercial fleet environment.
- Strong understanding of Working Time Directive regulations and driver compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance planning and fleet governance processes.
- Proven people management and leadership experience.
- Experience conducting investigations, hearings, and disciplinary processes.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organisational skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with regulators, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
