Pay Rate: £36,000 - £38,000

Grade: N

Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

Shift Patterns: Tuesday to Saturday, 40 hours per week, 6am to 2pm

Location: Hatfield

We're now looking for a Transport First Line Manager to take the helm of our daily transport operations!


What You'll Do

  • Accountable for safe, legal, and efficient execution of transport operations supporting the SLA's / KPI's
  • Accountable for driver and fleet compliance in line with legal and DHL standards
  • Be the point of escalation for day-to-day operational issues management and resolution for transport
  • Responsible for delivering a safe, efficient, and effective workplace and the driver teams
  • Day-to-day management of colleagues within the team including absence (annual leave & sickness) and ensuring escalation of cases when appropriate to the Transport Operations Manager
  • Responsible for EOS within the team, creating, driving, and managing associated action plans
  • Responsible for ensuring system compliance i.e. Logics, DPM, and transport systems
  • Support delivery of driver cost efficiencies within the transport operation
  • Support with the management of operational costs and identification of cost performance trends - i.e. fuel performance / accidents, etc.
  • Support the Transport Operations Manager in identifying and implementing cost efficiency projects / continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage absence, disciplinary, and grievance in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures
  • To schedule, prepare, and conduct quarterly 1-2-1's with all direct reports in line with OMS guidelines
  • Ensure Safety: Uphold the highest safety standards and compliance regulations, creating a safe and secure workplace for everyone.

What You'll Bring

  • Preferable Transport experience
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Good degree of IT literacy including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Can lead from the front, winning hearts and minds, and providing coaching and mentorship
  • Have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Aren't afraid to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in when needed
