Role: Transport First Line Manager x2

Salary: £38,000 - £40,200 per annum
Location: Southall
Shift on offer: (Flexibility: 2 hour windows to start and finish times is required at times)
5 in 7, AM - 06.00-14.00
5 in 7, PM - 14.00-22.00

We are currently recruiting for a Transport First Line Manager to join a busy logistics operation near Southall.
This is a hands-on transport FLM role, responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient running of the operation, while leading and developing a team of drivers and support colleagues.

Duties of a Transport First Line Manager:

  • Lead the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring high levels of service, safety and compliance.
  • Manage and support a team of 30+ drivers and administration colleagues.
  • Oversee dispatch, route performance, fleet availability and operational recovery.
  • Monitor KPIs and take proactive action to maintain service levels.
  • Manage attendance, absence, performance and conduct, including formal disciplinary processes.
  • Ensure compliance with driver licensing, working time, vehicle and transport regulations.
  • Support workforce planning and resource allocation.
  • Lead shift handovers and ensure effective communication across the operation.
  • Identify operational risks and take appropriate action.
  • Drive continuous improvement across service, efficiency and colleague engagement.
  • Work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve operational issues.

About you

  • Previous supervisory experience within a transport, logistics, distribution or home delivery environment.
  • Open to experienced Warehouse Supervisors or similar-level candidates with strong management skills and experience supporting dispatch operations.
  • Experience managing a team of 30+ colleagues.
  • Experience with absence, performance and disciplinary processes.
  • Strong knowledge of transport compliance and working time regulations.
  • Experience managing KPIs and operational performance.
  • Strong workforce planning and organisational skills.
  • The confidence to make decisions in a busy operational environment.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong focus on service and continuous improvement.
