Transport First Line Manager (Nights) | Waitrose
Salary: £38,000 per annum + 15% Night Shift Premium
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Shift Pattern: 22:00 - 06:00, any 5 days from 7 (including weekends)
Location: Bristol, BS10 7ES

If so, DHL Supply Chain has an exciting opportunity for a Transport First Line Manager (Nights) to join our brand-new, state-of-the-art Bristol operation, supporting our valued customer, Waitrose.
This is your chance to play a key role in shaping a new operation while leading and developing a team of professional drivers. You'll be working in a modern, purpose-built facility with outstanding amenities, including an on-site gym and restaurant, while being part of a collaborative team that values innovation, engagement and continuous improvement.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Transport First Line Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the night shift transport operation, ensuring our drivers are safe, compliant, engaged and set up for success every day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the day-to-day transport operation to ensure safe, efficient and compliant delivery performance.
- Leading, coaching and developing driver teams through regular communication, engagement activities and structured one-to-one reviews.
- Building a positive and high-performing team culture where individuals feel valued, supported and motivated.
- Ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence (O-Licence) requirements, transport legislation and company policies.
- Promoting and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and operational compliance.
- Monitoring vehicle compliance and ensuring defects are reported, investigated and resolved promptly.
- Supporting driver training and development to ensure colleagues have the skills, knowledge and tools needed to succeed.
- Analysing operational performance and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, service and cost performance.
- Working closely with site customers, stakeholders and internal teams to deliver exceptional service and operational excellence.
- Utilising transport systems, WMS and reporting tools to drive performance and support decision-making.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for an enthusiastic leader who is passionate about people, operational excellence and delivering outstanding customer service.
You'll bring:
- Previous experience in a transport, logistics or operational leadership role.
- Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build effective working relationships across the operation.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Good knowledge of transport compliance, health and safety, and operational best practice.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office and operational systems.
- A commitment to delivering exceptional service, safety and compliance standards.
