Beesley & Fildes Ltd are recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager to join our team based at our Widnes branch.
As Transport Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring deliveries are planned and completed efficiently, safely and in line with relevant transport legislation. You will manage and support the branch's driving team, maintain high standards of vehicle compliance and ensure we continue to provide an excellent level of service to our customers.
In return, we offer a competitive salary of up to £36,000 per annum, dependent on experience, ongoing career progression and development, and the opportunity to join a well-established, leading Builders Merchant in the North-West.

Main Duties
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the branch transport operation
- Plan and coordinate daily deliveries to ensure an efficient and reliable service to customers
- Manage and support drivers, ensuring workloads and delivery schedules are effectively organised
- Ensure company vehicles are maintained to the required standard and defects are reported and addressed promptly
- Ensure compliance with relevant transport legislation, drivers' hours, Working Time Directive requirements and company procedures
- Monitor driver performance and ensure company policies and procedures are followed
- Liaise with the branch management team, yard staff and drivers to coordinate deliveries and resolve operational issues

Requirements / Qualifications
- Previous experience within a transport management role
- Class 2 License (Required)
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and people management skills
- Previous experience within builders' merchants, construction, distribution or a similar environment would be advantageous
