Sharpsmart Transport Team

Sharpsmart Transport Team is at the very centre of our business, providing an essential service to our Healthcare Customers. We are now expanding our team in Stoke on Trent and have an opportunity for an experienced Transport Manager to join and lead this growing team.

Role Overview

The Transport Manager will undertake depot responsibility for the management of Driver and Vehicle compliance. You will deliver an efficient and effective collection service, taking the lead on the integration of new services and customer roll outs, demonstrating commercial awareness and the ability to liaise with key internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational transport compliance
  • Scheduling, analysis, planning, and out-of-hours responses
  • Incident investigation and assist in the disciplinary processes, accident and incident investigations, driver training, and auditing
  • Performance management, absence management, KPI setting, 121s, and interviewing
  • Support with vehicle and supplier procurement and supply
  • Liaison with internal departments and external third parties
  • Submit Transport updates and reports to Senior Management Team
  • Transport Employee Recruitment & Development
  • Health and safety

  • CPC Qualification/ADR Knowledge
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar transport management role with a strong understanding of Transport Compliance
  • Experience of vehicle routing and excellent geographical knowledge for the North East region
  • Experience of building relations and working with drivers on a daily basis
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise
  • People Management, including hiring, performance management, absence management, disciplinary actions
  • Excellent PC skills including Microsoft packages with Intermediate Excel skills
  • Full UK Driving License
  • 45 hour working week
