At Lineage, helping to feed the world is more than a job – it’s a purpose we live every day. Lineage is the world’s largest and most innovative provider of temperature-controlled logistics solutions.
Our Hams Hall/Coleshill facility is looking for an ambitious Transport Manager who doesn’t just want to manage transport operations – we’re looking for someone who wants to make them better. You’ll take ownership of legal compliance in line with O’licence stipulations, while leading our transport planning, people, and drivers to deliver outstanding daily performance.
If you’re someone who naturally asks “How could we do this better?”, challenges the status quo, and enjoys turning ideas into real improvements, this could be the role for you.
You’ll lead the Lineage way, promoting our values: Safe, Trust, Respect, Innovation, Bold, and Servant Leadership.
Working hours: Monday to Friday 08:00-16:30 (flexibility is essential)
Salary: Salary Negotiable
The Role
- Take ownership of transport fleet compliance, ensuring all vehicles are maintained and serviced at the correct intervals in line with O’licence undertakings.
- Lead the development, performance, and maintenance of the organisation’s transport operation, continually looking for ways to improve efficiency, maximise value, and deliver against agreed performance and profitability targets.
- Own your depot budget, deliver an excellent customer experience, and build a culture of continuous improvement that drives both performance and profitability.
- Be a strong voice for compliance across all areas, including Legislative, Productivity, Quality, and Service.
- Challenge existing ways of working, identify opportunities, and introduce new initiatives that optimise our transport operation and improve depot performance.
- Inspire, support, and develop your team, creating an environment where people are accountable, empowered, and motivated to perform at their best.
- Use vehicle telematics to monitor driver performance, oversee DCPC periodic training, and proactively arrange training where required.
- Monitor and debrief driver EU and Working Time infringements, taking appropriate action and arranging additional training where needed.
- Own the safety of transport operations, leading the management and investigation of accidents and incidents, and driving preventative actions.
- Work with your team to develop and deliver plans that turn operational strategy into measurable results.
- Take ownership of day-to-day transport operations, including new employee onboarding, route planning, resource allocation, and driver supervision.
- Lead health and safety training on site and ensure site-based risk assessments and safe working procedures are implemented and maintained. Take a proactive approach to H&S, identifying issues before they become problems and driving practical solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
