Key Responsibilities

  • Statutory compliance of all company vehicles, heavy plant, and specialist operational assets in strict alignment with DVA and HGV Operator License (O-License) conditions
  • Oversee scheduling of Planned Maintenance Inspections, PSV & MOT, etc.
  • Planning and organization of vehicle and plant maintenance and repairs in alignment with operational requirements
  • Work directly with our in-house garage to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to achieve desired outcomes
  • Manage the relationship with our suppliers, ensuring optimum efficiency and value for money
  • Coordinate response to breakdowns and plant issues to minimize downtime
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance/repair work
  • Build working knowledge of mechanical operation of all plant, HGV’s, and maintenance best practices
  • Daily communication and collaboration with Operations and Project Management teams
  • Support and promote a culture of safe working practices, liaising with field staff as required
  • Oversee driver Performance, CPC, and driving license compliance and monitoring
  • Oversee daily vehicle check procedure and defect management
  • Utilize existing Company systems and software for ongoing monitoring, reporting, and analysis
  • Regular reporting to Senior Management on team performance and areas for improvement
  • Develop Fleet strategy including technology & innovation, fleet purchase decisions, and fleet structure
  • Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace
  • Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to
  • Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents, and incidents in a timely manner to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence
  • Support with accident/incident investigations through technical knowledge

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Commercially astute and drive improvements to improve both compliance and costs
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Criteria

  • CILT Level 3 CPC for Transport Managers (Road Haulage)
  • Class 2 HGV Driving Licence
