The Role & Key Responsibilities

Job Title: Transport Manager

Location: Bury St Edmunds, UK

Contract type and shift: Permanent, Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.

Package includes: Salary from £50,000 per year, plus pension contributions matched up to 10% and access to flexible benefits that support your development, wellbeing and everyday life.

We're looking for a Transport Manager to take ownership of our transport operation, leading a team of LGV Drivers while ensuring safe, compliant and cost-effective distribution. You'll play a pivotal role in optimising fleet performance, improving efficiencies and delivering outstanding service to our customers.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and developing a team of drivers to deliver a safe, high-performing operation
  • Managing transport compliance, including DVSA, WTD, O-Licence and CPC requirements
  • Working closely with Planning, Production and Customer Services to maximise service levels
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives and identifying operational efficiencies
  • Managing transport budgets, KPIs and performance metrics
  • Maintaining the highest standards of health & safety, feed safety and vehicle compliance

What we're looking for

  • CPC National Road Haulage qualification
  • O-Licence Holder experience
  • Proven transport, fleet or distribution management experience
  • Strong people leadership and performance management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence
