Transport Manager - Slough
£55,000-£60,000 + benefits
Loom Talent are delighted to be supporting a leading logistics business with the appointment of a Transport Manager at their Slough operation.
This is a key operational leadership role, responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient running of the transport operation, while leading a team and driving improvements across service, cost and performance.
The successful candidate will be a confident transport professional who enjoys being close to the operation, understands the demands of a fast-paced environment and can lead from the front.
The Role
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring a safe, compliant and efficient service.
- Lead, manage and develop the transport team, creating a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Oversee route planning and fleet utilisation, ensuring routes operate within legal, operational and customer requirements.
- Monitor key transport KPIs including OTIF, service levels, vehicle utilisation and driver performance.
- Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, company policies and health & safety requirements.
- Work closely with warehouse, planning and wider operational teams to resolve issues and maintain service levels.
- Manage vehicle maintenance, repairs and external transport suppliers, minimising downtime and controlling costs.
- Investigate service failures, delivery discrepancies and operational issues, putting effective corrective actions in place.
- Drive improvements across the operation, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, customer service and cost performance.

About You
We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager with a strong operational background and proven leadership experience.
Essential:
- Management CPC
- Proven experience managing a transport operation within logistics, distribution, FMCG or contract logistics.
- Strong people management and leadership experience.
- A good understanding of transport compliance, legislation and operational best practice.
- Experience managing fleet, drivers and transport KPIs.
- A hands-on approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:
- Previous experience managing airside transport operations.
- Experience within aviation, freight, airport logistics or other highly regulated transport environments.
- Experience working within a multi-user / contract logistics operation.
