Transport Manager required at West Northamptonshire Norse
Daventry, West Northamptonshire - NN11 4HB
Salary: £46,918.87 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday
About the Role
West Northamptonshire Norse provides a range of cleaning, grounds maintenance, facilities management, and refuse collection services across the district. We are currently seeking a Transport Manager to join our management team.
As Transport Manager, you will provide overall management and responsibility for Operator Licence and Non-Operator Licence Fleet operations, ensuring all undertakings are adhered to. This position must demonstrate continuous and effective control of fleet operations and will report into both the Operations Director and the Group Fleet Manager. Responsible for the management, legislative requirement, and compliancy of all "Operator Licence" undertakings as defined and outlined in the TM1 Declaration.
Role Responsibilities
- To be named Transport Manager on the West Northants Norse Operator Licence, ensuring effective and continuous control of all fleet operations.
- Ensure all Norse vehicles, including Non-O license, are operated in conjunction with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Responsible for ensuring all relevant records such as vehicle maintenance, defect records, and Driver’s Hours records are completed and retained as per statutory requirements and are available when required.
- Responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are kept in a fit and roadworthy condition at all times, and effective management of third-party vehicle maintenance providers, used to maintain the Fleet.
- Assist with specification, tendering, and procurement of vehicles, plant, and equipment.
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of business plans, quality, performance targets, and performance management reports.
- Ensure personal compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice updates.

Our Successful Candidate
Essential
- Certificate in Professional Competence in Road Haulage (National).
- Extensive knowledge of Operator Licensing requirements.
- Proven management experience in a similar role managing diverse transport operations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, confident giving instruction and direction effectively and concisely.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage your own workload, meeting strict deadlines under pressure.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, empower, and provide guidance to others.
- Ability to work on your own initiative, as an individual or as part of a team.
- Capable of showing flexibility in your approach to delivering work.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
- Full clean UK Driving Licence with category B.

Desirable
- Automotive Engineering qualification.
- Level 3 Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
- Member of relevant professional body.
- Experience of vehicle maintenance workshops.
- Experience of municipal vehicles and plant operations.
- Experience of using Fleet Management IT systems.
- HGV Licence category C.
