Role Description
The Transport Office Administration Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Bathgate. This position supports the transport office with day-to-day administrative tasks such as handling driver paperwork, driver time sheets, updating transport schedules, and maintaining accurate records for deliveries and collections. - Answering phone and email enquiries
- Liaising with drivers and customers
- Preparing and filing documentation
- Entering data into transport management systems
- Monitoring job progress
- Assisting with booking and coordinating loads
- Supporting compliance with company procedures
The successful candidate will contribute to smooth office operations and effective communication across the haulage and logistics team.
Salary & Working Hours
Starting salary is from £27,000 per annum, based on candidate’s abilities and experience. Working hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, but can be adjusted to suit. Salary can be further reviewed upon completion of the standard 12-week probation period. 28 days holiday per annum are included in the pay package.
Qualifications
- Strong administrative skills, including data entry, record keeping, and document management.
- Proficiency with office software such as email, spreadsheets, word processing, and basic transport or logistics systems.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with drivers, customers, and colleagues by phone, email, and in person.
- Good organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work reliably on-site in Bathgate, collaborating with the transport team and following established procedures.
- Previous experience in transport, logistics, or an office administration role is beneficial but not required. All training required will be provided.
- Basic understanding of UK geography and road networks is an advantage.
- Relevant vocational training or qualifications in administration, business, or logistics are desirable.
