Job Title: Transport & Operations Administrator

Location: Blackburn

Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with a bi-weekly early finish pattern

Sector: Manufacturing / Supply Chain & Logistics


Overview

An established and growing manufacturing business is seeking a Transport & Operations Coordinator to join its operations team. This is a varied position combining transport administration, logistics coordination, customer support, and operational administration.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring customer orders are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time, while also supporting warehouse, production, and inventory operations. This opportunity would suit an experienced Logistics Administrator, Transport Administrator, Exports Administrator, Supply Chain Administrator, or Operations Coordinator looking for a broad and varied role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

Transport & Logistics

  • Coordinate the distribution and delivery of customer orders.
  • Plan and organise transportation for outgoing goods.
  • Liaise with production and warehouse teams to ensure product availability and on-time delivery.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with external transport providers.
  • Monitor carrier performance and resolve transport-related issues.
  • Prepare transport documentation and driver paperwork, including export documentation where required.
  • Reconcile transport invoices and investigate discrepancies.
  • Monitor market conditions and communicate any transport risks impacting operations.

Warehouse & Inventory Support

  • Coordinate goods-in activities and receipt of incoming products accurately.
  • Support warehouse planning and allocation of daily tasks.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through stock checks and inventory control processes.
  • Assist with returns processes and associated documentation.
  • Provide reporting and management information relating to inventory performance.

Operations Administration

  • Provide administrative support across operations, production, purchasing, and customer service functions.
  • Produce reports, update operational data, and maintain accurate records.
  • Update production, quality, and operational documentation.
  • Assist with production and warehouse planning activities.
  • Support contractor management, inductions, and facilities-related administration.
  • Answer customer and supplier queries via telephone and email.
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover across operational administration functions.
  • Assist with payroll-related administration and other business support duties when required.

Skills & Experience

To be successful, you are likely to have:

  • Previous experience within Transport, Logistics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Operations Administration.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of transport processes and distribution operations.
  • Experience coordinating carriers, deliveries, or third-party logistics providers.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • High attention to detail, particularly when dealing with documentation, inventory, and invoices.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience of goods-in, stock control, or inventory management would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of export documentation or European logistics would be beneficial but is not essential.
