We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport Operations Manager to join our growing team!

As our Transport Operations Manager, you'll take ownership of our end-to-end transport operation, leading teams across transport, planning, administration, compliance, fleet management, and driver development. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective deliveries while driving continuous improvement and supporting the wider growth of the business.
Salary
£50,000 - £70,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Working Pattern
5 days out of 7, including weekends
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading, coaching, and developing the transport team to create a high-performing, engaged culture.
- Overseeing day-to-day transport operations, ensuring efficient vehicle utilisation and excellent service delivery.
- Managing transport planning activities to maximise routing efficiency, resource utilisation, and on-time deliveries.
- Driving operational performance through KPI monitoring, continuous improvement initiatives, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence requirements, DVSA regulations, driver hours legislation, and fleet compliance standards.
- Overseeing fleet maintenance, roadworthiness, inspections, defect reporting, and incident management processes.
- Managing relationships with suppliers, maintenance providers, and external transport partners.
- Supporting fleet investment and replacement planning to meet business needs.
- Leading the development of transport teams and drivers through training, coaching, and ongoing competency programmes.
- Promoting a strong safety-first culture and encouraging best practice across the transport operation.
- Managing transport budgets, analysing operational data, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining service levels.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and acting as the lead contact for transport-related matters across the business.
- Working collaboratively with Operations, Warehouse, Customer Service, and Sales teams to support wider business objectives and growth plans.

What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a Transport Operations Manager, Transport Manager, or similar leadership role.
- CPC qualification (essential).
- Strong knowledge of DVSA regulations, driver hours, Working Time Regulations, and transport compliance.
- Experience leading transport planning, fleet management, and operational performance.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Commercial awareness with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Experience managing budgets and driving operational efficiencies.
- Experience within FMCG, food distribution, or time-critical logistics environments would be advantageous.
- International Operator Licence Holder qualification preferred.
