About the role
In this role, you’ll play a key part in the day-to-day planning and coordination of a busy trailer operation across Ireland and Europe. You’ll be responsible for ensuring loads are planned and delivered efficiently, safely and on time, while working closely with customers, drivers, subcontractors and internal teams to resolve issues and keep operations running smoothly.
You will be responsible for:
- Planning and coordinating routes and loads, ensuring efficient scheduling across multiple departments and making adjustments to meet changing operational requirements.
- Managing transport documentation and compliance, including special permits for oversized loads and ensuring all movements meet relevant Irish and European regulations.
- Coordinating drivers, subcontractors and shipping bookings, overseeing daily transport activity and liaising with vessel operators to ensure loads move as planned.
- Monitoring performance and customer requirements, providing KPI reports to customers and DFDS management while ensuring accurate scheduling and project planning.
- Identifying and resolve operational issues, working collaboratively with colleagues to carry out root cause analysis, improve processes and support the profitable and cost-effective running of the operation.

About you
You’ll have proven experience in transport planning or a similar logistics environment, with a strong understanding of the challenges and demands of a fast-paced operation. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel and Word, and be comfortable working with systems and data.
You’ll be self-motivated, organised and adaptable, with the ability to respond effectively to changing priorities and operational requirements. A good geographical knowledge of Ireland and Europe is important, alongside an understanding of vehicle safety legislation, EU Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Regulations. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure will be key to your success in this role.
