About Oceanside Logistics:

Oceanside Logistics Ltd is a fast-growing, independent freight forwarding and logistics company based in Southampton. Due to continued expansion, we are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Transport Planner to join our busy Transport Department.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering outstanding customer service.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Transport Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day planning and coordination of container and general haulage movements throughout the UK.

You will work closely with customers, drivers, subcontractors, and internal departments to ensure transport operations are completed efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inputting and maintaining transport jobs within the TOPS Transport Management System.
  • Planning and routing company vehicles and subcontractors to maximize efficiency and service levels.
  • Obtaining transport quotations and pricing jobs competitively whilst maintaining profitability.
  • Liaising with customers, drivers, and subcontractors to ensure all transport requirements are met.
  • Monitoring vehicle movements and proactively communicating any delays or service issues.
  • Providing excellent customer service via telephone and email.
  • Booking Vehicle Booking System (VBS) slots with UK ports, including DP World and Associated British Ports.
  • Ensuring transport jobs are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Working closely with the wider operations team to meet daily transport requirements.

About You:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience within a UK transport planning role.
  • Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Be able to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Possess strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Have a proactive and positive attitude with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Be confident making decisions in a fast-moving operational environment.
  • Have a good understanding of UK geography and transport networks.

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous experience using the TOPS Transport Management System.
  • Experience with DP World VBS and other UK port booking systems.
  • Knowledge of container haulage and port operations.
  • Understanding of Driver Hours Regulations and transport compliance requirements.

Working Hours:

Core office hours are typically 07:30 – 17:00, Monday to Friday.
Whilst there is no formal out-of-hours requirement, occasional support may be needed for operational tasks such as VBS bookings during evenings or weekends. These responsibilities are shared across the transport team.
