About the Business

Loom Talent is working exclusively with a well-established transport and logistics operator based in Huddersfield, part of a larger transport group. Our client is a specialist distributor, running a fast-paced, high-volume operation where accuracy and reliability really matter.

The Role

Due to continued growth, our client is looking for an experienced Transport Planner in Huddersfield to join their team. You'll play a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of the operation, responsible for planning driver schedules, reconciling the previous day's work, and handing over a clear, well-prepared shift to the incoming planning team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate driver schedules and routes to meet contractual delivery requirements
  • Reconcile the previous day's work, ensuring all jobs, hours, and paperwork are accurately recorded and closed out
  • Prepare clear, accurate handovers for the incoming shift's planning team
  • Liaise with drivers, depot staff, and customers to resolve issues and keep operations running smoothly
  • Monitor driver hours and ensure compliance with relevant transport legislation (e.g., Working Time Directive, drivers' hours rules)
  • Respond to and resolve day-to-day operational issues, including delays, breakdowns, and route changes
  • Maintain accurate records within transport planning systems

What We're Looking For

  • A confident, effective communicator who can build good working relationships with drivers, colleagues, and customers
  • Well organized, with the ability to prioritize a busy and varied workload
  • Good IT skills, comfortable picking up new systems
  • Flexibility to work the shift pattern above, including occasional nights
  • Previous experience in transport planning is a bonus but not essential; we're just as interested in your problem-solving and people skills as your background
