Transport Planner
Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Type: Full-time, permanent
The Opportunity
We are working with a growing consultancy in Basingstoke who are looking to appoint a Transport Planner to join their expanding team.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious transport professional to work across a varied portfolio of development and infrastructure projects, providing transport planning advice to clients across the residential, commercial and mixed-use sectors.
The role would suit someone looking to develop their career within a consultancy environment, with the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work directly with clients and contribute to the continued growth of the business.
The Role
As a Transport Planner, you will be involved in a range of transport planning and development projects, including:
- Preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
- Undertaking junction capacity and traffic impact assessments.
- Supporting the preparation of transport strategies for development proposals.
- Analysing traffic and transport data and interpreting results.
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, highways teams and other stakeholders.
- Supporting planning applications and development proposals through the planning process.
- Contributing to the preparation of technical reports and planning submissions.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across transport planning, highways and wider development disciplines.
- Managing your own workload and supporting multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Developing your understanding of client requirements and contributing to business development opportunities as your experience grows.

About You
We are looking for someone with a background in transport planning, ideally within a consultancy environment.
You may be an experienced Transport Planner or someone earlier in their career looking for the next step.
You should have:
- Relevant experience in transport planning or a related discipline.
- Experience producing transport planning reports and technical assessments.
- An understanding of the UK planning and development process.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
- Good communication skills and confidence dealing with clients and stakeholders.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of your work.
- A genuine interest in developing your career within transport consultancy.

Experience with software such as Junctions, LinSig, AutoCAD, TRICS or GIS would be beneficial, although training can be provided where appropriate.
