Company Description

The Silver X Group is a UK-based logistics specialist providing IT-led, bespoke solutions across courier, haulage, pallet distribution, and warehousing. With centrally located warehouses and yards around Alfreton, Derbyshire, the company supports clients with flexible, scalable transport and storage options. Services range from road haulage (7.5T–44T) and same-day/next-day courier work to e-commerce and retail fulfilment. Silver X also offers pallet warehousing, pick and pack, specialist home and retail delivery services, project management, and outsourced planning functions. The group focuses on outstanding customer service, competitive pricing, and acting as a one-stop logistics partner.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Transport Planner role based in Riddings. The Transport Planner will plan and schedule daily road haulage and courier operations, ensuring efficient vehicle utilization and on-time deliveries across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Producing and updating transport plans
  • Managing driver routes and workloads
  • Coordinating collections and deliveries with customers, drivers, and warehouse teams
  • Monitoring live operations
  • Resolving route or timing issues
  • Maintaining accurate system records
  • Supporting compliance with transport regulations and company policies
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of planning processes, cost control, and service quality

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Transportation Planning and Transport Modelling to design efficient, cost-effective routes and schedules
  • Effective Communication skills to coordinate with drivers, customers, and internal teams and to handle issues professionally
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Prior experience in logistics, haulage, or courier planning; experience in a fast-paced transport office is an advantage
