Transport Planner
Salary: £35,000–£42,000 per annum, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time - In person. Upminster, Essex.
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, with one weekend per month on call remotely.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating daily vehicle routes, ensuring efficient and cost-effective transport solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate daily vehicle routes and schedules.
- Schedule loads and allocate appropriate vehicles and drivers.
- Liaise with drivers and customers to confirm delivery times and requirements.
- Resolve operational issues promptly and effectively.
- Monitor fleet performance and make adjustments where required.
- Update transport management systems and maintain accurate documentation.
- React quickly to traffic delays, vehicle issues, and last-minute customer requests.
- Work closely with operations and customer service teams to maintain high standards of reliability and service.
- Ensure transport operations remain compliant with relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience in transport planning, logistics, or road haulage.
- Strong knowledge of transport planning and transport management.
- Experience managing schedules, allocating resources, and coordinating vehicles and drivers.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to managing changing priorities in a busy haulage environment.
- A good understanding of safety, compliance, and operational requirements within the road transport industry.
