Transport Planner – Suffolk

£30,000+ | Permanent | Full-time

Are you an experienced Transport Planner looking for a role where you can take ownership of the daily transport operation?

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a growing business in Suffolk. This is a hands-on role focused on route optimisation, delivery planning and managing third-party transport providers.

The Role

You will be responsible for planning and coordinating daily deliveries, ensuring routes are efficient, cost-effective and meet customer requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and optimise daily delivery routes
  • Allocate work across a network of subcontracted carriers
  • Monitor deliveries and resolve issues in real time
  • Re-plan routes when delays or priorities change
  • Work closely with internal teams to maintain service levels
  • Balance cost, efficiency and customer requirements
  • Manage Proof of Delivery (POD) queries and ensure records are accurate
  • Use transport planning systems and data to improve efficiency
  • Build strong relationships with external transport providers

About You

We're looking for someone with proven experience within transport planning or logistics planning who can confidently manage a busy and changing operation.

Essential:

  • Previous transport or logistics planning experience
  • Experience working with subcontracted carriers / third-party transport providers desirable
  • Strong route planning and problem-solving skills
  • Experience using transport planning or route optimisation systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and make decisions quickly
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Commercial awareness with a focus on both cost and service

Working Hours

45 hours per week, with some flexibility required to support the operational requirements of the business.
