Transport Planner - South Normanton
Are you an experienced Transport Planner who enjoys working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment? Do you thrive on finding the most efficient solutions while keeping drivers, customers and internal teams informed? Are you confident managing multiple priorities and making decisions that keep deliveries running smoothly?
Here at GXO, we're recruiting for a Transport Planner to join our Shared User operation in South Normanton. This is a full-time, permanent role, working Monday to Friday, 14:00 – 22:00, where you'll be responsible for planning and coordinating deliveries, assigning routes and ensuring customer requirements are met in the most efficient and cost-effective way. Working closely with drivers, Customer Services and Sales, you'll play a key role in maintaining an efficient transport operation, proactively managing potential service issues and building strong relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders.

What you’ll do on a typical day
- Plan and assign deliveries and routes to drivers, ensuring customer requirements are met in the most efficient and cost-effective way while confirming delivery and booking dates
- Coordinate closely with drivers and customers, maintaining strong working relationships and proactively communicating any issues that could impact agreed delivery times
- Work collaboratively with Customer Services and Sales to ensure accurate order information is available, potential delivery challenges are identified early, and customers receive timely updates
- Create and maintain accurate delivery schedules, operational reports, files and records, ensuring information is readily available to customers and internal departments when required
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while continually identifying opportunities to improve transport efficiency, service delivery and the overall customer experience
What you need to succeed at GXO
- Recent experience in a Transport Planner position or similar transport environment, with a good understanding of delivery planning and operational requirements
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, with strong analytical skills and the ability to identify practical solutions to operational challenges
- The confidence to communicate effectively with drivers, customers and stakeholders at all levels of the business while maintaining strong working relationships
- The ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet demanding targets and deadlines within a time-critical environment
- A continuous improvement mindset, with the initiative and confidence to identify and drive opportunities that enhance operational efficiency and customer service
